Step Onto the Heritage of Scotland

We are excited to launch a new exclusive design based on the elegant Callanish Tartan. The team at Concept Hand Tufting were approached by Malcolm the Weaver to use their unique experience gained from 5 generations of heritage in the textile industry to bring his special tartan to life as a floor covering for luxury interiors. Commissioned by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on 16th March 2010, the Callanish Tartan was born when Malcolm the Weaver enchanted Her Majesty with tales of Scottish wool, Harris Tweed and Scotland’s rich textile and tartan heritage. Inspired by the ancient Callanish Stones, erected in 2,693BC, nearly 5,000 years ago, the Callanish Tartan reflects the timeless grandeur and haunting beauty of The Stones. Already a well loved kilt and jacket design, (and an exquisite dress worn by Joanna Lumley at a dinner hosted by King Charles III at Balmoral Castle to celebrate The Braemar Highland Games!), the tartan has recently gained popularity as iconic Scottish bridal wear and kilt and highland wear for the groom. The Callanish Tartan design can be installed fully fitted wall to wall; or with a border added for a timeless area rug or sophisticated stair runner. Its tones are…

Introducing LANA: Curated Wall to Wall Carpet Collection

We are excited to announce the launch of LANA, a new curated wall to wall carpet collection developed to offer a considered balance of design quality, material integrity, and accessibility. The collection features a series of designs in soft, grounding tones influenced by current colour direction, intended to work comfortably across both contemporary and more traditional interiors. Unlike our fully bespoke offering, LANA has been created as a stocked collection, allowing for shorter lead times at a more accessible price point, while maintaining the craftsmanship and material standards associated with Concept Hand Tufting. The collection celebrates wool, reflecting the company’s ongoing preference for natural fibres and their durability, warmth, and suitability for long-term interior use. The launch of LANA also reflects a broader focus on practical specification without compromising on design integrity. Drawing on generations of textile expertise, Concept Hand Tufting continues to explore ways of making well-crafted, thoughtfully designed flooring solutions more readily available for interior designers, hospitality projects, and private clients.

Raising funds for RIM Cancer Charity

We were really proud to be involved with a charity golf day last year raising funds for RIM Cancer Charities.  Running for the 21st year, founder and owner of Concept Hand Tufting, Charles Lawton took the reins this time, organising the day along with charity founder Richard Maltby. Our Technical Manager baked for and ran the halfway house and we sponsored a golf team on the day. An incredible £7,500 was raised and £5,000 of that was handed over to Leeds Hospitals Charity just before Christmas with the remainder being distributed this month. The money will go towards research projects for bowel, liver and prostate cancer - a cause that is close to our hearts at Concept. Thanks to all who took part to make it such a successful day!

Spotlight on……Wool

If you’ve ever met one of the Concept Hand Tufting team members you’ll realise that our biggest commonality is our love of wool. Give us the chance and we’ll wax lyrical about this miraculous fibre and the qualities that recommend it. Sustainable, natural and wonderfully versatile, wool is perfect for your carpet or rug and has been found in dwellings as far back as the Bronze Age, with the earliest found wool rug example, the “Pazyryk rug” dating back to 500-300BC. Concept Hand Tufting also has a history in the wool industry with 5 generations in first yarn spinning and then carpet and rug supply. Our history may not go as far back as the Pazryk rug, but we certainly know and love our wool! It’s not just tradition that keeps our flame burning for this wonderful fibre. Here are 5 reasons why we choose wool : 1 - Wool is a renewable & biodegradable source. There is currently 1000 million head of sheep dotted across the globe, continuously growing wool that needs to be shorn every 9-12 months. Shearing does not hurt or harm the sheep in any way. Unlike its synthetic alternatives, wool is created naturally, with only…

Decorex 2023

We were thrilled to welcome so many potential new and existing clients onto our stand at Decorex this year. Our stand design this year mirrored our current design direction embracing a playful and dramatic style through use of bold pattern clash, layered design and using colour as an anchor to bring these eclectic mixes together. Our new design collections 'Fragments' and 'Flora and Fauna' were also on display showcasing highly skilled technique in both hand tufting and traditional hand knotting. We were delighted by the comments of visitors to the stand who commented on how different our offering was and the "Wow" factor of our stair runner was a firm favourite amongst the exhibition goers.

Decorex 2022

We were very excited to be exhibiting for the first time at Decorex International this year. Our stand featured a bold design with a full size hand tufted rug falling down one wall and across the floor and furnishings showcasing the natural materials such as jute and bamboo that we like to use in our carpets and rugs. We got a fantastic response from the visitors to our stand and it was really lovely to chat all things carpets and rugs with new designers and existing customers alike. The feedback on the stand and the products was overwhelmingly positive and we want to thank everyone who took the time to come and talk to us. We look forward to the next one!

We were very honoured and excited to win an award at the Design et al International Design & Architecture Awards for the collaborative work that we did with the amazing team at Helen Green Design. We, along with other suppliers for the project, joined the designers in winning the Global Project award. A prestigious award that took into account projects entered into every award category. It was a fantastic project to work on and it's always a pleasure to work with designers as talented as the team at HGD. We were so excited to see other projects that we have supplied rugs on winning awards as well in other categories such as Residential 10 million plus, Hotel Design, and Luxury Residence London and our congratulations go to the fantastic designer behind those projects as well.
