Earthy tones are a big feature in interior design colour palettes year on year with 2024 being no exception. Now that we are well settled into the season and the change of colour this time of year brings, we look to an earth toned palette inspired by nature.
To create a successful earth hued colour story, the balance of warm and muted shades are carefully placed and paired. Inherently inspired by nature, the palette brings a sense of calm to a space and with varying combinations creating different effects.
To create a modern and contemporary look, a minimalist approach to neutrals, shades of brown, rich camel and black are the perfect mix. By adding blue and accentuating with gold tones a more timeless and classic take on a contemporary palette is achieved.
A moody yet relaxed colour pairing would include, moss greens, warm toned ochres and dusky pinks. Our Moorland collection which was inspired by the beauty of nature found in the Yorkshire Dales emulates this moody and relaxed feel.
Rich reds and warm browns sat beside a contrasting crisp white is an unusual use of colour with bold effects. An unpredictable, brave palette of nature’s hues is a fantastic example of elevated luxury, experimenting with tried and tested colours but pushing beyond the obvious.
An alternative, quiet approach to an earth toned colour palette is possible to create a serene and organic environment. This can be achieved by combining predominately green tones like sage and olive alongside soft neutrals of ivory and clay. Adding texture to a more paired back look is key, our natural fibre rugs and textural Heritage wool collection would be the perfect accompaniment to this style.
Looking beyond where the earthy palette naturally sits, our prediction is that it will continue its popularity well into Spring 2025 following a focus on wellbeing and the benefits that nature’s colour scheme brings to our interior environment.
