Here at Concept we provide many different qualities and techniques and love being able to create unique rugs and carpets specific to your space! However we understand how confusing it can be to get started so thought we’d take you through the basics to help you on your bespoke flooring journey!

It’s clear why it’s the most popular of our qualities as the possibilities with hand tufting are endless! The process involves a hand operated tufting gun which inserts yarn into the backing canvas to create an individual tuft. This intricate process allows for any design, shape and size to be created.

Not only can we achieve complex designs and sophisticated colour grading, but can also add further interest to the finished pieces by creating texture from multi-heights, combinations of cut and loop pile, carving, sculpting and tip-shearing the surface.

We hand tuft in various fibres. Our favourites being the sustainable, natural options, such as New Zealand wool, bamboo silk, genuine silk and polished cotton. You can choose to have a rug of all one fibre or mix fibres to create another dynamic to the design.

Hand knotted rugs have the most complex, longest manufacturing process of all our qualities. Often resulting in the densest and most detailed of design. These rugs are measured in knot counts per square inch. The higher the knot count, the denser and finer the detail of the finished design. Each knot is made by hand resulting in a typical lead time of up to approx. 6 months.

Concept have recently launched a new collection of hand knotted rugs in New Zealand wool and genuine silk, which can be made to order in any size. Halcyon is an exclusive collection of 18 designs inspired by a yearning for calm and peace.

This quality is woven on a hand-operated loom. Exclusive in their design, the handmade combinations of wool, linen, cotton, silk and felted yarns are delicately structured yet durable.

We can also create more a more rustic aesthetic from fibres such as hemp and jute, giving a more tribal feel which is extremely popular.

With so much more importance being placed on outdoor living over the last year, you might want to consider an outdoor rug to soften your relaxing or entertaining space! Using specialist water and fade resistant yarns, they are durable and weatherproof for all seasons. Also perfect for any interior areas that may require a more robust finish, such as bathrooms, kitchens, dining areas or playrooms!

We can help you every step of the way – suggesting quality and design to suit areas and budget. Our in-house design team will work closely with you to find the perfect fit for your project. We can work from wallpapers, fabrics, paint samples or just the general feel of the project to propose designs and colours from which we will produce high quality artwork renders.
